What’s New, Wally?

Mr. Gotye has been right busy lately!

He attended the SLAM fund-raiser dinner hosted by Marieke Hardy and attended by PM Kevin Rudd amongst others!

He’s up for a couple more awards for two of his Making Mirrors music vids!

There’s word of a “Video Mirrors” release on the radar! More details to come on that, but for now the word from Wally is “it’s a digital compilation of some live visuals and film clips from Making Mirrors, with some remixes and B-sides too”

And his Midi-master-man Tim Shiel tells us a story about touring with the Gotye crew and the ensuing shenanigans!

Thanks to everyone who helped us in generating questions for Stephen Scott’s upcoming Basics interview on Twitter! The #3BasicQ stream looked great! Cheers all!

Test your Gotye-Brains!

Wall-Nut Joyce crafted this lovely Gotye-nut crossword with assistance by Nutmin fact-checker Verena! It pairs well as an amusement with breakfast, while in traction at hospital, whilst hiding from the incoming zombie apocalypse, or as a primer for the next Gotye Goodie Giveaway on our Twitter in September!

Hope you enjoy triggering those fan-neurons, Gotye nuts!

Thanks to Joyce and Verena for the Wally-wonderful work!

Chatting with Kris Basic

Kris Schroeder, a Basic man and one of our first Gotye collaborator interviewees joined Good Morning Arkansas today to perform and talk about his musical past and future, with a few Gotye jokes to boot!

The anchors may have been a bit cheesy, and they spelled his last name wrong, but he classed-up the place with his acoustic tunes regardless! Kris performed a fave of ours-the lovely “All or Nothing” from the heartrending 2009 album “Keep Your Friends Close”

Good to see ya Kris!

Save the Palace and Wear Some Wall-Nut-made Art!

Gotye and fellow Oz musos are joining the movement to prevent Melbourne’s Palace Theatre from being made into a hotel. Let’s help them keep this beautiful landmark venue as a place for live music to inspire and ignite!

And hey-our talented nut Francesca created a stellar, retro-style The Basics montage tee design that is now offered in their Redbubble store! Grab it as well as the official Leftovers tour tee and show ’em you’re a Basics Nut too! Thanks to Francesca for this awesome design (see below & hit that link, baby!), and for being one fantastically creative nut!

It’s our first year live on this website today! Our group decided to create this public space several months after forming, and we’ve loved sharing our nuttiness with you! Many thanks to all the Nuts, Wally, The Gotye Mailman, and all our Gotye Collab Interviewees for their time and contributions!

We’ll be back again soon, but you can always stay nutty with us on Twitter 24/7!

Cheers Gotye nuts!

Gotye’s gal shares her own artistic talents

Wally’s long-time love Tash Parker is a truly a warm, wonderful gal as well as a musician and talented visual artist! Several of us had the pleasure to chat with her during tour stops last year, and learned about her ongoing artistic projects. She recently posted a new blog entry elaborating on what she’s been up to over the past year and a half, including this lovely, summery collab with Adam Dunning!

"Tashie Moshie Monster" -a painting Tash produced that was inspired by a garbled Skype photo Wally snapped during one of their calls while he was away from home. A lovely piece with a sweet story.

Collab Tunes

Wally’s been hard at work sharing his expertise at the mic and drumkit for Louis Spoils and Spender!

Whose needs more yammering from us-let’s let the tunes speak for themselves!

(thanks fellow Nut Luisa for posting)

And of course the awesome a’capella he did with Perfect Tripod! Lovely!
